Behavior Consultant
Job Description
As Independent Contractors, Behavior Consultants are responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Individualized Behavior Program directly with the consumer and the direct care staff as well as data collection details in the data log book.
They are to be available for requested participation in scheduled IPP meetings, for arriving on-time, and for scheduled in-services. Behavior consultants are required to record data for the programs that they are implementing with the consumers at times for Inter-rater Reliability Checks. When providing services at a consumers group home or day program, Behavior Consultants are responsible for signing the Documentation of Consultant Hours service log at the end of a session each time that they provide services for a consumer. For supervision, Behavior Consultants report directly to the Behavior Analyst (if no BCABA supervisor is included on the group home team). At times, Behavior Consultants are required to provide services at a Day Program setting (i.e., work program or Adult Day Care facility). The specifics of how the program is to be administered in the ADC settings may vary from consumer to consumer, so it is important to work closely with the day program administrator and your supervisor to determine a clear procedure protocol for data collection, in-service and report requirements. When working in the ADC and work program settings, it is important to follow all the regulations and procedures set forth by the ADC and the site administrator (e.g., all Behavior Consultants are required to sign-in upon arriving at most sites in the Visitors log and to sign out when finished). In the ADC settings, the ADC administrator becomes the immediate supervisor of the Behavior Consultant.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Child Development, or Special Education. Eagerness to work with adults with disabilities. Willingness to be trained in ABA and Replacement Behavior methodology and to be a significant, contributing team member to the IPP process. Ability to accept constructive feedback and make changes from it as well as a Behavioral Alternatives team player. Basic word processing and Internet/e-mail skills are a must as well as reliable transportation.
Compensation
Depends on Education and Experience
Hours
The hours of service for all consultant positions (Behavior Consultant, Behavior Analyst Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCABA) Supervisor, and Behavior Analysts) range from 8:00am until 7:00pm Monday through Saturday, on rare occasion, Sunday service may be necessary/desirable given group home availability, outing schedules and traffic confines. It is infrequent but may be necessary/desirable to work after 7:00pm for report writing and e-mailing.
